BLM seeks Wild Horse and Burro Advisory Board nominations

The Bureau of Land Management is issuing a call for public nominations to fill three positions on its national Wild Horse and Burro Advisory Board.  Nominations are for a term of three years and are needed to represent the following categories of interest: public interest, wild horse and burro advocacy, and veterinary medicine. Initiative provides grazing permit holders flexibility in the management of livestock

WASHINGTON – The Bureau of Land Management today announced 11 demonstration projects in six states for its outcome-based grazing authorizations initiative, which is designed to provide BLM managers and grazing permit holders greater flexibility in the management of permitted livestock. (link)

Elko District BLM to Conduct Herbicide and Mowing Treatments Near Elko, NV

BLM cautions against burning in windy conditions

WINNEMUCCA, Nev. – The Bureau of Land Management, Winnemucca District, assisted local fire departments in fighting two controlled burns that escaped recently due to high winds.   It is very important to remember that Nevada has received less than 50 percent of its average precipitation between October 2017 and February 2018 and temperatures were above normal for the month of February when these incidents occurred. Indian Creek Campground now taking reservations online

March 13, 2018. CARSON CITY, Nev. – As of March 1, customers have been able to reserve campground sites on, including the BLM-operated Indian Creek Campground, which is adjacent to Indian Creek Reservoir in Alpine County and is scheduled to open on May 4, barring weather. (Full Article)

BLM seeks public comment on proposed plan amendment for Mineral Ridge Mine

Public input deadline extended for Revised Draft Resource Management Plan

LAS VEGAS – The Bureau of Land Management has extended the deadline for public input on the Revised Draft Southern Nevada District Resource Management Plan/Environmental Impact Statement.

The deadline has been extended to March 23, 2018. The deadline was extended because of comments received from the public, and a desire by the BLM to collect more public input. The original deadline was February 2. (Read More)
